ABSTRACT. Anthracnose, which is caused by the fungus Colletotrichum lindemuthianum, is one of the most widespread and important diseases of the common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) in the world. The objective of the present study was to characterize the genetic resistance of the Beija Flor cultivar by inheritance and to conduct allelism tests. The inheritance test was conducted in the F2 population derived from the Beija Flor (resistant) x TU (susceptible) cross inoculated with race 2047 of C. lindemuthianum. Furthermore, allelism tests exhibited a fitted segregation ratio of 15R:1S, thereby indicating the independence of the Beija Flor gene from the following previously characterized genes: Co-1, Co-2, Co-4, Co-42, Co-6, Co-12, Co-14, Co-15, and Co-Pe. Based on the aforementioned results, we are proposing the symbol Co-Bf to designate the new anthracnose resistance gene in the Brazilian Andean common bean cultivar Beija Flor. This cultivar is an important source of resistance to C. lindemuthianum that should provide a valuable contribution to the common bean breeding program for anthracnose resistance.

Abstract The objective of this work was to screen sweet cassava accessions collected in smallholding areas in the Midwestern, Southeastern and Southern regions of Brazil, using 15 SSR molecular markers, to determine population structure and genetic diversity. Polymorphism was detected in every loci analyzed, with mean of 6.33 alleles per locus, and mean polymorphism information content (PIC) of 0.6057, pointing out that the primers were highly informative. The observed heterozygosity ranged from 0.0709 (SSRY 101) to 0.9398 (GA 12), with a mean of 0.6511, and mean genetic diversity of 0.6578, ranging from 0.3592 (GA 136) to 0.8116 (SSRY 21). The most dissimilar combinations observed were BGM526PR-BGM596MS, BGM526PR-BGM622MS and BGM526PR-BGM629MS. The traditional cassava cultivars assessed were divided into four distinct groups: two with cultivars from the South, one from the Southeast and one from the Midwestern region of Brazil. The variances among and within groups determined by the analysis of molecular variance were 44 and 56%, respectively. The PhiPT parameter (analogue to Fst) of 0.44 indicates high differentiation among groups. Broad genetic diversity was found among the traditional sweet cassava cultivars assessed, and the most divergent groups were formed by cultivars from the South and the Midwestern regions of Brazil.

RESUMO. O presente trabalho teve como objetivo caracterizar isolados de C. lindemuthianum da raça 65 provenientes de diversas regiões do Brasil, por meio de sequenciamento de regiões ITS. Um total de 17 isolados da raça 65, coletados nos estados do Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais, Paraná, Santa Catarina e São Paulo, foram estudados. As análises das sequências dos isolados 8, 9, 12, 14 e 15 revelaram a presença de dois SNPs na região ITS1 nas mesmas posições. Estes mesmos isolados quando analisados juntamente com a sequência do isolado 17 apresentaram um SNP na região ITS2. A maior dissimilaridade genética foi de 0,772 observada entre os isolados 11 e 3 e entre os isolados 11 e 10. Por sua vez, os isolados 7 e 2 foram os mais similares, com valor de distância genética de 0,002. A árvore filogenética obtida com base nas sequências das regiões ITS1 e ITS2 revelou a formação de dois grupos, sendo um com a divisão de um subgrupo. Estes resultados revelam uma elevada variabilidade molecular entre isolados da raça 65 de C. lindemuthianum.

ABSTRACT. The present work aimed characterize isolates of C. lindemuthianum race 65 from different regions in Brazil by ITS sequencing. A total of 17 isolates of race 65, collected in the states of Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais, Paraná, Santa Catarina and São Paulo, were studied. Analysis of the sequences of isolates 8, 9, 12, 14 and 15 revealed the presence of two single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the ITS1 region at the same positions. These isolates, when analyzed together with the sequence of isolate 17, revealed a SNP in the ITS2 region. The highest genetic dissimilarity, observed between isolates 11 and 3 and between isolates 11 and 10, was 0.772. In turn, isolates 7 and 2 were the most similar, with a value of 0.002 for genetic distance. The phylogenetic tree obtained based on the sequences of the ITS1 and ITS2 regions revealed the formation of two groups, one with a subgroup. The results reveal high molecular variability among isolates of race 65 of C. lindemuthianum.

Marcadores moleculares são ferramentas auxiliares nas análises da diversidade genômica dentro de uma espécie e para avaliar os relacionamentos entre indivíduos e populações. Dentre eles, os microssatélites (SSRs) é uma das classes de marcadores mais importante que pode ser usada com eficiência para distinguir acessos provenientes de um banco de germoplasma. Estes marcadores apresentam elevado grau de informação devido a sua herança co-dominante, multialelismo, padrão mendeliano e boa cobertura do genoma. A metodologia de enriquecimento para o desenvolvimento de microssatélites apresenta uma eficiência superior em plantas, especialmente quando se utiliza sondas marcadas com biotina e esferas magnéticas revestidas com estreptavidina. O desenvolvimento de EST-SSRs tem se tornado uma forma rápida para obtenção de marcadores moleculares, porém limitada a espécies para as quais existam bancos de sequências. Dado o elevado nível de polimorfismo dos microssatélites quando comparados com outros marcadores, estes têm sido utilizados em estudos da estrutura genética de populações, em análises de diversidade genética, em mapeamento genético e em seleção assistida por marcadores.

Molecular markers are powerful tools for analyzing genome diversity within a species, and to evaluate genetic relationships between individuals and populations. Among them, microsatellites (SSRs) are one of the most important polymorphic markers that can be used effectively to distinguish germplasm accessions. These markers present high informative content due to their codominant inheritance, multiallelism, mendelian pattern and good genome coverage. The enrichment methodology for microsatellite development has a superior efficiency in plants, especially when performed using biotin-labeled microsatellite oligoprobes and streptavidin-coated magnetic beads. The development of EST-SSR markers has become a fast and relatively inexpensive way but it is limited to species for which this type of database exists. Given the high polymorphism level of microsatellites when compared to other markers, SSRs have been used to study population structure, for genetic diversity analysis, genetic mapping and marker assisted selection.

A divergência genética entre 14 cultivares de mandioca-de-mesa foi estimada mediante o uso de caracteres morfoagronômicos e de marcadores moleculares RAPD. As análises de agrupamento de Tocher e do Vizinho Mais Próximo foram efetuadas. As cultivares mais divergentes foram Pão e Guaíra, Fécula Branca e Pão, e Pão e Caipira, enquanto as mais similares foram Fécula Branca e Branca 1, Branca 3 e Branca 1, e Guaíra e Branca 1. O coeficiente de Jaccard indicou que as cultivares mais similares foram Guaíra e Quarenta Quilos, enquanto as mais dissimilares foram Branca 3 e Amarela da Rama Cinza. A análise de divergência indicou que cruzamentos promissores deveriam ser efetuados entre as cultivares Branca 3, Pão, Amarela 1, Fécula Branca e Amarela 2 pela alta divergência genética, características agronômicas e culinárias favoráveis, e resistência à doenças de parte de pelo menos um dos parentais envolvidos no cruzamento.

In this work the genetic divergence among 14 sweet cassava cultivars was estimated by their morphological agronomic traits and RAPD molecular markers. The Tocher cluster analysis and the Nearest Neighbor Method were applied. The most dissimilar cultivars were Pão and Guaíra, Fécula Branca and Pão, and Pão and Caipira, while the most similar cultivar were the Fécula Branca and Branca 1, Branca 3 and Branca 1, and Guaíra and Branca 1. The Jaccard's coefficient showed that the most similar cultivars were Guaíra and Quarenta Quilos, while the most dissimilar were Branca 3 and Amarela da Rama Cinza. The divergence analysis indicated that promising crosses could be made between the Branca 3 cultivar and the Pão, Amarela 1, Fécula Branca and Amarela 2 cultivars for the high genetic divergence, favorable agronomic and culinary traits, and disease resistance on the part of at least one of the parents involved in the cross.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi comparar diferentes metodologias de análise de estabilidade fenotípica considerando produção e teor de matéria seca nas raízes tuberosas de oito genótipos de mandioca, avaliados em oito ambientes na região Noroeste do Paraná. Todas as metodologias aplicadas se mostraram aptas no estudo da estabilidade dos genótipos avaliados, cada uma delas com suas particularidades. As metodologias de Eskridge, Annicchiarico e Lin e Binns se mostraram mais adequadas para situações de menor efeito da interação G x A. A análise AMMI e a metodologia de Toler e Burrows propiciaram um melhor detalhamento das adaptações específicas dos genótipos a ambientes favoráveis e desaforáveis. É sugerido o uso simultâneo da análise AMMI e da metodologia de Toler e Burrows. O clone IAC 190-89 mostrou-se mais promissor.

The objective of this work was to compare different phenotypic stability methods by using yield and storage root dry matter content data of eight cassava genotypes, assessed in eight environments in northwest of Paraná State, Brazil. All the methodologies applied showed to be able to study the stability of cassava genotypes, but each with its peculiarities. The methodologies of Eskridge, Annicchiarico and Lin and Binns were the most appropriated on situation with smaller effect of G x E interaction. The AMMI analysis and the Toler and Burrows methodology were the most specific on detailing specific adaptations of cassava genotypes to favorable and unfavorable environments. It could be suggested to use simultaneous AMMI analysis and Toler and Burrows methodology. The clone IAC 190-89 was the most promising.

Com o objetivo de uma melhor compreensão da relação entre a produtividade total de massa seca e a proporção de alocação desta nas raízes tuberosas em plantas de mandioca, foi conduzido no município de Araruna-PR, um experimento em delineamento de blocos casualizados, em esquema de parcelas subdivididas com quatro repetições. Nas parcelas foram dispostas três cultivares (Mico, IAC 13 e IAC 14), e nas subparcelas dez épocas de colheita mensais, a partir do início do segundo ciclo vegetativo das plantas. As cultivares Mico e IAC 13 foram mais eficientes do que a IAC 14 em alocar massa seca nas raízes tuberosas, ao passo que esta última alocou maior proporção de massa seca em suas hastes. Em relação às épocas, os menores índices de colheita ocorreram em períodos de mais intenso crescimento vegetativo das plantas, ao passo que a maior proporção de carboidratos foi alocada nas raízes tuberosas em períodos de baixo crescimento vegetativo.

A study was carried out in Araruna County, State of Paraná, to understand the relationship between the total dry matter yield and its proportion allocated to the storage roots of cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) plants in the second vegetative cycle. The experimental design was a randomized complete block in split-plot scheme with four replications. The plots consisted of the Mico, IAC 13 and IAC 14 cultivars and the monthly harvesting dates were assessed in the sub-plots. The results showed that the Mico and IAC 13 cultivars were more efficient in allocating dry matter to the storage roots. The IAC 14 cultivar allocated a higher proportion of assimilates to stems compared with the other two cultivars. With regard to the influence of harvesting time, the lowest harvest indexes were observed in the periods of more intense vegetative growth. However, the highest carbohydrate proportions were allocated to the storage roots during periods of low vegetative growth.

Em 2003 e 2004, isolados de Colletotrichum lindemuthianum obtidas de plantas infectadas de feijoeiro comum (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) no Estado de Santa Catarina, Brasil foram analisadas baseando-se na virulência em 12 cultivares diferenciadoras de Phaseolus vulgaris L.. Treze raças distintas foram identificadas, sendo que seis delas não haviam sido reportadas anteriormente em Santa Catarina. Este é o primeiro registro de ocorrência das raças 67, 83, 101,103,105, e 581 do C. lindemuthianum. A raça mais comum foi a 65 (34%). Todos os isolados foram compatíveis com as cultivares Michelite e México 222. Alguns dos isolados infectaram tanto cultivares diferenciadoras de origem Mesoamericana como de origem Andina.

In 2003 and 2004, 32 isolates of Colletotrichum lindemuthianum obtained from the infected plants of field-grown common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) in Santa Catarina state, Brazil were analyzed based on the virulence to 12 differential cultivars of Phaseolus vulgaris L.. Thirteen distinct races were identified, six of which had not been reported previously in Santa Catarina. This is the first report of the occurrence of 67, 83,101,103,105, and 581 races of C. lindemuthianum. Race 65 was most common (34%). All the isolates were compatible to the cultivars Michelite and Mexico 222. Some isolates infected not only differential cultivar of Mesoamerican origin, but also the ones of Andean origin.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi determinar a capacidade combinatória e a heterose, quanto à produtividade de grãos e aos componentes de rendimento, em híbridos derivados dos cruzamentos dialélicos entre as cultivares BRSMG-Talismã, IPR Uirapuru, FT Soberano, BRS Campeiro, IAC Tybatã, e IPR Juriti. Quinze híbridos foram gerados a partir dos cruzamentos dialélicos, sem os recíprocos. As capacidades de combinação geral e específica foram significativas em relação à altura de planta, ao número de vagens por planta, número de sementes por planta, número de sementes por vagem, peso médio de 50 sementes e à produção de grãos, e indicaram a ocorrência de efeitos aditivos e não aditivos. A melhor estratégia a ser adotada em programas de melhoramento que envolvam seleção é o uso das cultivares BRS Campeiro, FT Soberano e BRSMG-Talismã. As combinações mais promissoras foram 'IPR Uirapuru' x 'IAC Tybatã', 'IPR Uirapuru' x 'FT Soberano', 'BRS Campeiro' x 'IPR Juriti' e 'BRS Campeiro' x 'IAC Tybatã'. Os parentais destes híbridos apresentaram elevadas estimativas de capacidade específica de combinação. A hibridização de cultivares pertencentes a grupos comerciais distintos propicia maiores valores de heterose.

The objective of this work was to determine the combining ability and heterosis, for productivity and yield components, in diallel hybrids derived from crossings between BRSMG-Talismã, IPR Uirapuru, FT Soberano, BRS Campeiro, IAC Tybatã, and IPR Juriti parent cultivars. Fifteen hybrids were generated from diallel crosses, excluding reciprocals. The general and specific combining abilities were significant for plant height, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per plant, number of seeds per pod, 50-seed weight, and grain yield, indicating the occurrence of both additive and nonadditive genetic effects. The best strategy to be adopted is the use of BRS Campeiro, FT Soberano and BRSMG-Talismã cultivars in common bean breeding programs involving selection. The most promising combinations were 'IPR Uirapuru' x 'IAC Tybatã', 'IPR Uirapuru' x 'FT Soberano', 'BRS Campeiro' x 'IPR Juriti', and 'BRS Campeiro' x 'IAC Tybatã'. The parents of these hybrids presented high estimates of specific combining abilities. Hybridization of cultivars belonging to distinguished commercial groups propitiates higher heterosis values in the segregant population.

Dentre as várias doenças que causam problemas no cultivo de feijão comum (Phaseolus vulgaris L.), uma das mais importantes é a antracnose causada pelo fungo Colletotrichum lindemuthianum (Saac. et Magn.) Scrib., a qual pode resultar em severas perdas na produtividade de grãos. O controle genético, nas cultivares diferenciais Michelite, Michigan Dark Red Kidney, Perry Marrow, Cornell 49-242, PI 207262, AB 136 e G 2333 e seus 21 híbridos dialélicos, foi obtido usando a metodologia de Hayman (1954). Todas as populações F1s foram avaliadas em relação à raça 89, enquanto que os híbridos envolvendo a cultivar G 2333 não foram avaliados com a raça 31. Os resultados demonstraram que os efeitos aditivos foram predominantes para a raça 31, enquanto os efeitos gênicos não aditivos foram mais importantes na reação de incompatibilidade das cultivares a raça 89. Os resultados ainda evidenciaram um elevado coeficiente de determinação genética para a raça 31. Os cultivares G 2333, AB 136 e PI 207262 são os mais indicados para programas de melhoramento visando à obtenção de cultivares resistentes à antracnose por possuírem maior proporção de alelos dominantes para resistência às raças 31 e 89.

The aim of this work was to perform genetic control on differential cultivars Michelite, Michigan Dark Red Kidney, Perry Marrow, Cornell 49-242, PI 207262, AB 136 and G 2333 and its diallel hybrids by using Hayman's methodology. The entire F1s populations were evaluated in relation to race 89, whereas the race 31, the diallel scheme did not include the cultivar G 2333. The results showed that the additive effects were predominant for the 31 race, while non-additive effects were more important for race 89. The results demonstrated a high coefficient of genetic determination for the race 31. The G 2333, AB 136 and PI 207262 cultivars should be recommended obtaining cultivar resistant to anthracnose by backcross programs because theyshowed the highest proportion of resistant dominant alleles for the races 31 and 89.

The genetic resistance of Phaseolus vulgaris L. cultivar Michelite to races 8 and 64 of Colletotrichum lindemuthianum, causal agent of bean anthracnose, was characterized. Crosses were made between Michelite and Mexico 222 cultivars and the F2 population was inoculated with race 64 in order to study the inheritance of resistance to anthracnose in Michelite. The segregation of F2 population fitted in a ratio of 3R:1S, showing the presence of a dominant gene in Michelite gene conditioning resistance to race 64. Allelism tests were conducted with F2 populations derived from crosses between Michelite and AB 136, AND 277, BAT 93, Cornell 49-242, G 2333, Kaboon, Mexico 222, Michigan Dark Red Kidney (MRDK), Ouro Negro, Perry Marrow, PI 207262, TO, TU, and Widusa. All the cultivars (except Mexico 222) were resistant to race 64. While F2 derived from the Michelite x Mexico 222 was inoculated with race 8. Additionally, allelism tests indicated that the gene present in Michelite is independent from Co-1, Co-2, Co-3, Co-4, Co-5, Co-6, Co-7, Co-9 and Co-10 genes. The monogenic inheritance observed in Michelite and the independence of this gene from those previously characterized allow the authors to propose that the anthracnose resistant gene in Michelite should be named Co-11.

Com o objetivo de determinar o efeito da época de colheita no crescimento vegetativo, na produtividade e na qualidade de raízes tuberosas de três cultivares de mandioca (Manihot esculenta Crantz), desenvolveu-se em Araruna, Noroeste do Estado do Paraná, um experimento em área de Latossolo Vermelho Distrófico, no período de outubro de 1997 a maio de 1999. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o de blocos completos casualizados, em esquema de parcelas subdivididas, com quatro repetições, sendo os tratamentos principais as cultivares Mico, IAC 13 e IAC 14 e os tratamentos secundários, dez épocas de colheita, realizadas mensalmente a partir do início do segundo ciclo de crescimento das plantas. A produção da parte aérea apresentou, no segundo ciclo, aumentos de 50,0% em relação a um único ciclo vegetativo. O bom desenvolvimento da estrutura vegetativa das plantas levou ao acúmulo de material de reserva nas raízes tuberosas, aumentando a sua produtividade. Os maiores índices de colheita ocorreram dos 19 aos 21 meses de idade, com valores, em média, superiores a 54,0%. As cultivares não diferiram entre si quanto à produção de raízes tuberosas, de massa seca e de amido. Para todas as cultivares, a segunda fase de repouso fisiológico das plantas mostrou-se mais propícia à colheita, em face da maior produção de raízes tuberosas (92,5%), de massa seca (125,0%) e de amido (144,0%).

With the objective of determining the effect of harvesting time in the vegetative growth, yield and quality of storage roots of three cassava cultivars (Manihot esculenta Crantz), an experiment was carried out in an area of red distrophic Red Latosol in Araruna, Northwest of Paraná state, from October, 1997 to May, 1999. The experimental design was a randomized complete blocks with four replications and treatments arranged in split plots. The main treatments were the cassava cultivars Mico, IAC 13 and IAC 14 and the secondary treatments were ten monthly harvests starting from the second plant growing season. The canopy yield observed in the second season, presented an increase of 50.0%. The good development of the vegetative structure of the plants resulted in a greater accumulation of reserve material in the storage roots, increasing its yield. The highest harvest indices were observed from 19 to 21 months, with mean values superior to 54.0%. The cultivars were not significantly different in production of tuberous roots, dry matter and starch. The second phase of physiologic rest of the plants showed to be more favourable for harvesting, expressed in terms of production of storage roots (92.5%), of dry matter (125.0%) and starch (144.0%).

Este trabalho teve como objetivo estudar a adaptabilidade e estabilidade de cultivares de milho-pipoca avaliadas pela Embrapa-Centro Nacional de Pesquisa de Milho e Sorgo, no ano agrícola 1991/92. Foram avaliadas 15 cultivares em 19 locais quanto à produtividade, e em 15 locais quanto ao índice de capacidade de expansão (ICE) na região centro-sul do Brasil. As cultivares GO 100P, MF 1001, Pirapoca-Amarela, Pirapoca-Branca e Colorado Pop 1, foram mais promissoras, pois apresentaram boas médias de produtividade (1.700 a 2.100 kg/ha de grãos) e razoáveis ICE (17 a 21 mL/mL). Quanto à variável produtividade, as cultivares Pirapoca-Amarela e Colorado Pop 1 apresentaram-se adaptadas a ambientes favoráveis, e foram estáveis. As cultivares MF 1001, Pirapoca-Branca e GO 100P, demonstraram capacidade satisfatória no aproveitamento dos estímulos ambientais, e foram estáveis. Todas foram estáveis em relação ao ICE, e as cultivares MF 1001, Colorado Pop 1, Pirapoca-Amarela e Pirapoca-Branca demonstraram capacidade satisfatória no aproveitamento dos estímulos ambientais. A cultivar GO 100P foi melhor adaptada para ambientes favoráveis.

The purpose of this work was to study the adaptability and stability of popcorn cultivars evaluated by Embrapa-Centro Nacional de Pesquisa de Milho e Sorgo in the year 1991/92. Fifteen cultivars were evaluated for yield, in 19 environments, and for popping expansion, in 15 environments, at the central-south of Brazil. The cultivars GO 100P, MF 1001, Pirapoca-Amarela, Pirapoca-Branca and Colorado Pop 1 were more promising, showing higher grain yield average (1,700 to 2,100 kg/ha) and reasonable popping expansion (17 to 21 mL/mL). In relation to yield, Pirapoca-Amarela and ColoradoPop1 cultivars were more adapted to favorable environments, and were stable. The MF 1001, Pirapoca-Branca and GO 100P showed to be responsive to the environmental stimulus, and were stable. In relation to popping expansion, all the cultivars were stable, and MF 1001, ColoradoPop1, Pirapoca-Amarela e Pirapoca-Branca cultivars showed to be responsive to the environmental stimulus. GO 100P cultivar was adapted to favorable environments.

Foram realizados ensaios com o objetivo de avaliar a estabilidade produtiva de híbridos de milho, em diferentes épocas de plantio, no período outono-inverno, em São Jorge do Ivaí, noroeste do Paraná. A primeira fase experimental, realizada no ano de 1996, constituiu-se na avaliação de 12 híbridos comerciais, utilizando-se o delineamento em blocos completos casualizados, com quatro repetições. Na segunda fase experimental, no ano de 1997, foram avaliados em cinco épocas de semeadura, com intervalo de 15 dias, os híbridos C 806, FT 9043, AG 5011, C 435 e C 701, que se destacaram na primeira fase de avaliação, com cada época de semeadura constituindo um ensaio distinto de competição. A análise conjunta envolvendo as diferentes épocas permitiu concluir que épocas de semeaduras tardias resultaram na redução linear da altura de planta e na redução quadrática da área foliar, não afetando, porém, a prolificidade e o número de folhas por planta. A produção de grãos, influenciada pela precipitação pluvial, apresentou tendência cúbica para todos os híbridos nos ensaios das diferentes épocas. O genótipo AG 5011 apresentou-se estável e produtivo, pelos métodos de Kang e Lin e Binns.

Investigations were carried out with the objective of evaluating the yield stability of corn hybrids in different sowing times, during the autumn-winter season in São Jorge do Ivaí, State of Paraná, Brazil. In the first experiment 12 commercial hybrids were evaluated in randomized complete blocks design, with four replications. In the second, hybrids C 806, FT 9043, AG 5011, C 435 and C 701, selected in the first evaluation, were sown during 15 days interval and evaluated. The joint analysis involving different planting times allowed to conclude that the delayed sowing time resulted in a linear decrease in plant height and a quadratic decrease in leaf area, not affecting, however, the prolificity and the number of leaves per plant. The grain production, influenced by the water precipitation, showed cubic tendency for all hybrids in the trials of different sowing times. The genotype AG 5011 showed higher stability and yield by the classification of Kang and of Lin and Binns methods.

Seis cultivares de feijoeiro (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) LPSPI 93-17, LPSPI 93-19, FT-Nobre, Aporé, Rudá e Campeão-1 e seus 15 híbridos dialélicos possíveis, foram avaliados quanto a quatro características morfoagronômicas, utilizando-se a metodologia de Griffing (1956). A análise dialélica indicou a predominância de efeitos gênicos não-aditivos para as características número médio de dias para a germinação e altura média das plantas. As características número médio de dias para o florescimento, altura média da inserção da primeira vagem, ao contrário, acusaram superioridade dos efeitos gênicos aditivos. Pelas estimativas das capacidades combinatórias, LPSPI 93-19 e Aporé são os indicados para melhoramento intrapopulacional, enquanto para intercruzamentos, a indicação recai sobre as combinações LPSPI 93-17 x FT-Nobre, LPSPI 93-17 x Aporé, LPSPI 93-17 x Rudá, LPSPI 93-19 x Campeão-1, FT-Nobre x Aporé e Rudá x Campeão-1. Plantas com porte reduzido, maior altura de inserção da primeira vagem, menor número de dias para o florescimento e para emergência poderão ser obtidas a partir das populações segregantes dos cruzamentos LPSPI 93-17 x FT-Nobre e LPSPI 93-19 x Rudá.

Six common bean cultivars (LPSPI 93-17, LPSPI 93-19, FT-Nobre, Aporé, Rudá and Campeão-1) and their 15 diallel hybrids were evaluated for four agronomic characteristics using Griffing's methodology (1956). The analysis indicated the predominance of non-additive gene effects for days to germination and plant height. The mean number of days to flowering and mean height of the first pod insertion were predominantly controlled by genes showing additive effects. The results showed that LPSI 93-19 and Aporé were indicated for intra-population breeding, while the combinations LPSPI 93-17 x FT-Nobre, LPSPI 93-17 x Aporé, LPSPI 93-17 x Rudá, LPSPI 93-19 x Campeão-1, FT-Nobre x Aporé and Rudá x Campeão-1 were indicated for interpopulational breeding. Plants with reduced height, greater height of first pod insertion, fewer number of days to flowering and to emergence can be obtained from the segregant population of the crosses LPSPI 93-17 x FT-Nobre and LPSPI 93-19 x Rudá.
